Description
Errazuriz Estate Reserva Syrah is a medium to full-bodied Chilean red wine made from 100% Shiraz grapes. The grapes are sourced from vineyards in the Aconcagua Valley, which has a Mediterranean climate characterised by moderately warm summer days and fresh evening breezes.
Established by Don Maximiano
Errazuriz Estate was founded in 1870 when Don Maximiano Errazuriz planted his first vineyards at Panquehue in the Aconcagua Valley – 100km North of the capital. Today, the tradition of quality lives on with Don Maximiano’s descendant, Eduardo Chadwick. Eduardo has overseen the modernisation of the winemaking technology at this historic Estate whilst maintaining a distinct identity for its wines. Dedicated to producing estate-grown wines of superior quality, Errazuriz has built a reputation as the “Premier Family Wine Estate of Chile”.
Errazuriz Vineyards
Errazuriz has vineyards in Maipo, Casablanca and Aconcagua, including their world-famous Don Maximiano Estate Vineyards and new vineyards at their Aconcagua Costa “Manzanar” Estate. The “Manzanar” Estate is relatively new and is located in the coastal sector, some 12 km away from the Pacific Ocean. This ocean influences the vineyards in this region with the cool sea breezes. The estate consists of 230 hectares of vineyards planted with grape varieties that prosper in the slightly cooler climate here: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir.

Winemaking
- The grapes for Errazuriz Estate Series Shiraz were hand-picked in April.
- Then they were transported to the cellar, where they were destemmed and crushed.
- Vinification is in stainless steel tanks with two daily pumpovers.
- Length of the post-fermentation maceration depends on the individual lots and total skin contact – it varies between 10 and 25 days.
- The wine is aged for 7 months in American and French oak, 20% new.

This wine was previously known as Errazuriz Estate Series Shiraz. There is also a Pinot Noir in this range; both wines are available to buy now at Fareham Wine Cellar.
