Mamont Vodka: Made In Georgia

The Mamont Vodka brand is owned and was established by the Swedish pharma billionaire and explorer Frederick Paulsen Jr. (the first man to visit all of the earth’s 8 poles).

Production was recently moved from Siberia to Georgia. It is now produced by Paulsen’s company, GWS (Georgian Wines & Spirits), one of the largest quality wine producers in Georgia. They are based in Kakheti in the east of Georgia and produce various Georgian wine brands, the most famous of which are Tamada and Old Tbilisi. They also produce the classic Georgian grape-based spirit, Chacha.

Mamont Vodka Production

• Mamont is made using only the finest natural ingredients
• Made from 4 grains: malted barley, malted millet, winter wheat and rye
• The grain is traditionally malted, undergoing soaking, germination and mashing
• Only natural yeasts are used to produce the mash
• The resultant mash is then distilled 6 times through column stills, which produces a soft, silky, smooth spirit
• The vodka has a small proportion of cedar nut spirit to add complexity and a hint of nuttiness
• Produced with artesian well water from the nearby Alazani Valley
• Bottled at 40% ABV

Mamont Vodka: Inspired by the Great Mammoth

The brand’s creation was inspired by Paulsen’s involvement in the collection of the Yukagir Mammoth specimen. This very well-preserved, frozen adult male woolly mammoth specimen was discovered in the autumn of 2002 in northern Yakutia, Arctic Siberia.

During the expeditions, Paulsen conceived the idea of producing a premium vodka sold in a bottle modelled on the woolly mammoth tusk. The Tusk-shaped bottle and branding were designed by Stranger & Stranger, the go-to designers for cool drinks packaging.
